Here at Brands Imaging we get a lot of questions about perforated vinyl (or Perf as we tend to call it), and to be honest, I completely understand the confusion. So I thought that today I might use one of our recent jobs for Expressway Printing to provide a little mini-lesson on the subject.
Most of you have seen Perf as part of a vehicle wrap, although you may not have even noticed it. It’s the finishing touch that allows the windows to be covered with printed vinyl so that the wrap appears complete and seamless but the driver can still see out from the inside almost as clear as day. It’s hard to explain, but the holes allow you to see through and since the adhesive backing is so dark our eyes basically filter it out.
Perf is also a great product for signage- with Perf you can use your entire store windows to push your message, and that can be a lot of prime real estate!
In the case of Expressway Printing it allowed them to really get the most out of their corner location.
And the great thing about Perf for window signage is that you can literally cover the entire window, but still be able to see out almost as though it wasn’t even there.
No really! That is the view out from inside- through the perf. That’s how invisible it can be. The only give-away is in the middle of the window on the right you can faintly see the seam between the two panels.
Pretty neat, right?
So in conclusion- never think that you are limited to the same old tricks when out shopping for a sign. There are many options open to you in order to help you get the most bang for buck.
That’s all Professor Design Team has for you today… maybe I’ll try and think up some more mini-lessons for future blogs.
Until then- we hope you’ve all been enjoying the new year so far, we’re looking forward to some great things for 2011!
